Mt. Hakusan, a sacred place of nature
A journey around the water of life

"Once Mt. Hakusan is covered in snow,

we know that next year’s rice

harvest will be abundant."

Hoon-ko cuisine.jpeg

The abundant waters from Hakusan’s snowmelt have long been a source

of life for the people living along its river basin, stretching from the

mountains to the sea. Revered as both the "God of Agriculture" and the

"God of the Sea," these waters have been worshipped for centuries.

Following the opening of Mt. Hakusan in 717, the belief in Hakusan

spread across Japan, making it a key site for both religious and cultural

history.

The mountain continue to bless the region, with people living

in awe of nature while maintaining a deep sense of gratitude. This tour

takes you on a journey through the vast natural and cultural landscape,

from the sacred waters of Hakusan to the Japan Sea, where life and

food are intimately connected through the "water of life."
